3 Dollar Cheap Screen Printing Frame DIY

3 Dollar Cheap Screen Printing Frame DIY

I will teach you how 3 bucks can become a nice 16x20 screen printing frame.  It can be done diy from you home in probably 5 minutes or so.  You can create a screen similar to this.  I will show you how its done in just a few easy steps.

First you are going to need a miter saw for cutting the wood screen frame pieces.  You will need to measure and cut two 16 inch and two 20 inch pieces of furring strips.  Then corners should be cut at a 45 degree angle. This will resemble a picture frame when completed.

Now you're going to join these two pieces together like a picture frame and  put staples along all of the seams. You will need about 5 in each corner.  Try to put them as close to the corners and inner edges.  The should overlap the seems where to two pieces join together.  Be sure to put some wood glue at the parts that join together for added strength.

Once you've done that to all four corners and you've stapled them together you flip it over to the other side and then you do the same for the four corners.  Then allow the glue to dry before adding the mesh because the frame needs to be as strong as possible to handle the forces put on it by stretching the mesh so tightly.  Put the mesh on the smoothest side of frame.

For the proper technique on how to apply the mesh to the screen please see the video above.

  1. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine.
